C'mon, son...it's not Rorke's Drift. But it's interesting that DOD calls it an "engagement." About eight years ago, the media unilaterally decided it was a "mass shooting" and a precursor to modern right-wing nationalist violence.
Nelson59
The DOD spent time on taking MOH's away from dead soldiers??? Are they high??? I guess they want to delete the A from USA since it was taken from Amerigo Vespuci's name. These people are fvcking lunatics!! 1
snafu
Meanwhile, Venezuela is gearing up for more authoritarianism once the elections finish up on Sunday. Apparently, Maduro is way down in the polls and people don't expect him to just accept electoral defeat. Is this the beginning of the end for the Maduro regime in Venezuela? Hedge
So, we're going to be paying $15M in reward money to a cartel? Sounds about right, if so.

Worth it...if only for the reason that you don't want to develop the reputation of not paying out. And $15m is probably petty cash to Los Chapitos anyway.

You would think this move - even if they just reduce it to a lifetime sentence -- would be enough to anger everyone in this country to the extent that not one thinking person would vote Democrat ever again. But you'd be wrong, because the people striking this deal -- and the people voting for them -- are very likely grateful for what he did on 9/11, and it was just a matter of time before they could reward him for his efforts. And yet here we go; another shiny thing to get enough people upset so they aren't paying attention to the fact that all evidence suggests our country does not have a functioning president, and is trying to replace the vegetable with someone so stupid, she's one afternoon martini away from believing maybe Hank Johnson was right about Guam.
Ann
Huge prisoner exchange under way after days of speculation A major prisoner exchange between Russia, the US and four European countries is under way in Ankara, the Turkish presidency has confirmed. Three US citizens imprisoned in Russia - Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, US Marine veteran Paul Whelan and Russian-American radio journalist Alsu Kurmasheva - are thought to be among those being released. In total, the exchange will involve at least 24 prisoners. Eight Russian nationals are expected to be returned to Russia, including several with suspected ties to Russian intelligence. </snip>

He was captured in what, 2002? If he received a trial and was executed by say, 2005, my guess is that he’d still be dead so no deal would be happening in 2024.
