But one is a conscious decision, and the other an unconscious bias. Socialism is and always has been an urban political philosophy. Because of that, liberals and progressives reflexively believe that urban solutions are universal, applying to urban and rural equally. So liberals and progressives are dismissive of rural areas without even realizing it.
Boyst
Ham radios are being used to coordinate civies doing work angels. 4wheelers from an off-road club out of CLT are up there with help from outfitters (guys who fix up the 4wheeleers and side by sides)... They are working with local police and fire. Ham radio operator was deployed by advice from vfd to place his row boat across a river with a rope to go back and forth ferrying people. A man on horseback with a team is atop a mountain coordinating logistics. 1

And she whiffed in the most embarrassing way. It's never been more clear that this idiot will never be a leader in anything that doesn't involve sucking someone's dick to advance. All she had to do was hold a quick press conference; "We're doing everything we can to help our friends in need. We're in contact with the governor, we're arranging for FEMA, blah, blah, blah." It was the single easiest layup she'll ever get in her life, and in the event we can overcome the pending cheat with illegal immigrant votes, this swing-and-a-miss will go down as worse than Hillary ignoring Wisconsin. 2 1

Ann
It’s at $1.6m now. Except for Kelly Loeffler (William Ackman, Dana White), like his campaign it is mostly small donations from regular people. 2

All due respect but 900 S&R does nothing to help open roads and get supplies into these areas. I get it, Biden - Harris can't do 2 things at once and finding survivors should be priority one but you can't have people starving in the meantime

All disaster response is local, anyway. The federal government can't just swoop in and start disaster recovery - they have to be invited, and support SLTT resources. Or are we now arguing for a strong federal government and no federalism?

I think people are frustrated in the lack of resources being deployed federally. Ft Bragg is awfully close, why aren’t they helping? Why is more money being sent to the Ukraine when President Poopie Pants is saying no more money to storm damaged areas, and that people will have to get together to fund the cleanup and rebuild? Bush was eviscerated for his Katrina response, yet the current administration is reacting worse and the story is being buried. Maui, East Palestine, North Carolina, Tennessee, the response to disasters from this administration has been, quite frankly, horrible. Simply an awful situation all the way around. 1 4

Posse comitatus prohibits the use of resources from there - same fallacious argument that Bush Jr. got hammered for in Katrina, and Bush Sr. got hammered for in Andrew (and Bush Jr. ended up violating the law, saying "&#%$ it" and handing the New Orleans recovery over to NORTHCOM - Paul was directly involved in that, I remember. And Bush Jr. could have easily been impeached for that, as it was a clear and unquestionable constitutional violation.) And FEMA is using Ft. Liberty to stage resources through, with the Air National Guard. 20 minutes ago, Ann said: Why is more money being sent to the Ukraine when President Poopie Pants is saying no more money to storm damaged areas, and that people will have to get together to fund the cleanup and rebuild? 1) Money is not an exclusive-use resource to the government. Whatever they send to Ukraine has no impact on NC, because the government just borrows and prints money at will anyway. It's just poor optics. 2) Aid doesn't get allocated immediately. NC is going to get billions of dollars over the next 3-5 years (at least). That is outside the White House's control, as well. 3) Biden's an idiot. Why would anyone pay any attention to what he says, when he clearly doesn't know what's going on? 28 minutes ago, Ann said: Bush was eviscerated for his Katrina response, yet the current administration is reacting worse and the story is being buried. Bush was wrongfully eviscerated. The municipal government &#%$ed that up. And the current administration is not reacting worse (I can see the response - I'm involved in the long-term remediation.) They're messaging is much worse. Because - again - they're idiots, and they know they can get away with it. 1

Because - again - they're idiots, and they know they can get away with it. Maybe you can explain the administration’s lack of help in Maui and East Palestine? It doesn’t make me think that NC is going to get billions. And if it does… 3-5 years?!? What good is that when your (generic your) house, possessions, jobs, food, water, roads, etc. are gone now? When help is needed now. Yes, things take time. But, when I am sitting on the top of a roof waiting for rescue that never comes, i wonder why I pay (a lot) of taxes. Helping Americans is something our government seems incapable of doing in a timely manner. While I have lived through natural disasters, and seen roads crumble from hurricane flooding, this seems especially bad and ineptly handled. Edited to add: Biden wouldn’t get impeached for mobilization of the military to help. He’s not Trump.
