It's bizarre to me that Harris didn't take this incredible GOLDEN opportunity to show herself as a leader. And she whiffed in the most embarrassing way. It's never been more clear that this idiot will never be a leader in anything that doesn't involve sucking someone's dick to advance.

 

All she had to do was hold a quick press conference; "We're doing everything we can to help our friends in need. We're in contact with the governor, we're arranging for FEMA, blah, blah, blah."

All disaster response is local, anyway.  The federal government can't just swoop in and start disaster recovery - they have to be invited, and support SLTT resources.  

 

Or are we now arguing for a strong federal government and no federalism?

I think people are frustrated in the lack of resources being deployed federally. Ft Bragg is awfully close, why aren’t they helping? Why is more money being sent to the Ukraine when President Poopie Pants is saying no more money to storm damaged areas, and that people will have to get together to fund the cleanup and rebuild?

 

Bush was eviscerated for his Katrina response, yet the current administration is reacting worse and the story is being buried. 
 

Maui, East Palestine, North Carolina, Tennessee, the response to disasters from this administration has been, quite frankly, horrible.

 

Simply an awful situation all the way around.

1) Money is not an exclusive-use resource to the government.  Whatever they send to Ukraine has no impact on NC, because the government just borrows and prints money at will anyway.  It's just poor optics.

 

2) Aid doesn't get allocated immediately.  NC is going to get billions of dollars over the next 3-5 years (at least).  That is outside the White House's control, as well.  

 

3) Biden's an idiot.  Why would anyone pay any attention to what he says, when he clearly doesn't know what's going on?

Yes, things take time. But, when I am sitting on the top of a roof waiting for rescue that never comes, i wonder why I pay (a lot) of taxes. Helping Americans is something our government seems incapable of doing in a timely manner.

 

 While I have lived through natural disasters, and seen roads crumble from hurricane flooding, this seems especially bad and ineptly handled.
