The violence is increasing. Only military and law enforcement volunteers are allowed in to assist. My wife and fellow veterinarians have been told they cannot be safely sent in due to the rising violence.

Violence my ass

this isn't the inner city, where looting is standard practice during all crisis.

The only violence should be directed at the govt minions directly interfering with rescue and recovery efforts

so you are convinced that looting in the mountains is so bad that the Establishment is justified to prevent by threat of arrest volunteers from rescue assistance?

They're not from space, but the illegal aliens are eating dogs and cats in Ohio (and elsewhere)

You know, something that's been making me laugh this whole time is that this event has turned States right Republicans right into Federal election crybabies. Everybody bitching about how the feds aren't doing anything to help the state

Like, seriously John rich? You want the feds just to march in there if you've been so anti-federal government....

Wondering how the federal response to the hurricane ends up affecting the polls.

The portrayal of the response to Katrina was a big part of turning the House D back in '06.  And the shots of Christy walking with 44, along with Romney halting his campaign for several days, sealed the victory for 44 in his reelection bid.

This, along with the longshoreman's strike, and Iranian escallation of the Israeli conflict SHOULD be stealing the few remaining undecideds out of Harris' camp.  But we shall see.

you really are a piece of work.

not too bright.

it isn't so much the Fed money, its the Feds and their local enablers actively stopping volunteers from saving lives.

diverting donations, grounding private drones, threatening arrest due to phantom violence claims.

They are apparently interfering, not helping. You are close, how is that playing out state-wide?

Money to buy goods, rescue efforts, rebuilding, would be good, too.

Many of us across the Piedmont are afraid to leave the house because the radar waves are making it unbearable to leave the house. However, most of us have painted our roof and cars blue to avoid the space lasers.

The interference is something I've heard from directly. A former Duke employee talked to lineman up there working. There are bodies everywhere and the people sent in are not really doing much. Requests to simply get dozers, loaders, such things to clear roads is not being heard/listened to by whoever should be - it sounds like poor communication is a thing between who's handling what... Which is exactly why FEMA exists.

Money to buy goods is available. People who know people are sending money directly. Hotels, motels, places with beds, friends, anywhere are opening their doors for victims. Friends we know up there are leaving to get supplies and head back up since many lost vehicles etc. People down here have went up there with many goods. Water, toilet paper, bottles, rope, chainsaws, generators, and such are harders to get at stores but Greensboro is big enough it'll be able to get material in.

One of the biggest issues is one you'd not think of: two stroke motor oil.
