Reading through some of the stories and comments about it they claim there are militias and people who are armed that I guess scare them

From a few people I know up there outside of Asheville there are plenty of people open carrying and people are not being shy about riding in their truck with supplies to their own place having someone literally ride shotgun.

 

It's still the wild West in the rural areas.

 

As far as some yokals going a little too far? This are hill folk, independent on purpose, separated from civilization by choice. They don't have a use for any authority. It's easy to believe people don't want people they don't know and therefore don't trust to come in and put their feet on their soil, their community.
