I'd say he's one of several influences, though.  In no particular order...Van Halen, Scholz, Schon (and Santana, by extension), Satriani.   And Page and Clapton, of course.

Most definitely.  

 

Just more folksy than blues, so not really an influence on me.  There's plenty of great guitarists - Billy Gibbons, Prince, David Gilmour, Jeff Beck, Duane Allmann, Joni Mitchell (the queen of alternate tunings) - that I greatly appreciate, but simply don't influence me much as a player.
