There is no "whatever happens" here. 

 

A jury doesn't return this quickly without a unanimous decision, and we all know there is no way they unanimously chose to to find him not guilty.

So, now what? This gets him off the trail as the judge will either remand him to jail or home confinement. I know there is a way to direct appeal to the SC, but that would mean they'd have to be willing to hear it.
