I don't believe the House can do much other than to impeach the FBI director (which will go nowhere in the Senate), or to refuse to fund the FBI - either in part or whole - in the next budget.

The latter option would be an interesting clown show, with everyone on the left crying that the evil GOP is making the country less safe from mostly peaceful insurrectionists.

Referring the FBI officials to the Justice Dept. for prosecution on a Contempt of Congress charge would be a meaningless joke, just as it was when Congress voted to hold Eric Holder in contempt.

Your right unfortunately, the House can only recommend charges but the DOJ or local judge has to take them up and we know how that went with the Holder contempt.

Oy.

Given the fact that he holds a Security Clearance, that admission alone means he should be in prison.

It doesn't really admit to taking cash.  Could mean "I took bribes, but wasn't influenced by them."  Could mean "I didn't take cash."  Could simply mean "I took cash, was influenced by it...but Republican's can't prove it."

And that's entirely the point.  It's a masterpiece of ambiguity, and you can deny any accusation of dishonesty if you're that ambiguous.

It's not, unless there's an (R) next to the politician's name. Then it's insurrection and emoluments or something.

Who’s surprised?

I wasn't sure of this last night when I saw it but am seeing it reported other places this AM. That said, since the IRS is under Treasury, not the DOJ I think it a reasonable to assume the IRS team was working on handing over info to DOJ for prosecution. Also makes me think something big that happened is about to run afoul of the statute of limitations and this buys more time for that to happen

If the DOJ is working on a criminal case, and they anticipate the IRS investigation to finish first and ultimately interfere with their criminal investigation, then this makes sense.

If.

Nothing better than watching the chant get under their skin but knowing they can't show it.

They deserve every bit of scorn they're getting. If anything, they're getting off light.

Second Hunter Biden IRS whistleblower emerges after dismissal despite five years on case

A second IRS whistleblower in the criminal investigation of first son Hunter Biden emerged Monday in documents sent to Congress following the purge of the entire investigatory team looking into President Biden’s son for tax fraud and related crimes.

The new whistleblower is a special agent in the IRS’s international tax and financial crimes group and worked on the Hunter Biden case since it was opened in 2018 — until he was ousted without explanation last week.

The agent joins his supervisor, who plans to testify behind closed doors before the House Ways and Means Committee on Friday, in publicly registering concerns about how the Justice Department has handled the investigation.

Both IRS whistleblowers expressed concerns internally for years about the case being swept under the rug but got nowhere, and they lay out extensive claims of retaliation in new disclosures to Congress.

That's nice and all, but at this point does anyone believe that there will be any consequences?
