Except she was supposed to have a private meeting with the Israeli leader.

There is SO MUCH she can be legitimately criticized for, that there is no need to make stuff up.

She can meet with Netanyahu AND boycott his speech.

Boycotting his speech while meeting with him privately without the press all over it is to her political advantage if she wants to win Michigan.

Those two things can be true at the same time.

Except she's not boycotting it.  She's assuming the responsibilities of the Office of the President, and eschewing the responsibilities of the Office of the Vice President.

That would be a much more severe criticism, if people were paying attention and not stuck on this "boycott" bullshit.

The world media is not going to report on the fact that she has assumed the responsibilities of the president as long as Biden keeps poking his head out from behind the curtain. Maybe he'll finally quit tonight, but I highly doubt it.

And the boycotting message, I would argue, HELPS her more than it hurts her given the incredible amount of violence we saw from the pro-Hamas crowd on our campuses, so I don't know if it has the effect the right wants it to have.  I suspect there will be more than a handful of Hamas people calling for Jews to die at the WH doors today.

But again, the only way to win this election is to fight the way the left fights, and that means doing a tightrope walk across the line between imply and infer.

That's exactly WHY they should be reporting it.

"Madame Vice President, your responsibility as President of the Senate to meet with Netanyahu one-on-one in an executive session.  Isn't that the responsibility of the President?  Are you assuming the responsibilities of the Office of the President while President Biden is still in office, without invoking the 25th Amendment?  If President Biden has delegated these powers to you, has the Secretary of State and Congress been properly, legally notified?"

Hammer the shit out of it.  "Boycotting Netanyahu" is a fart in the wind.  Get her to talk herself into a corner, Madame Halfwit will eventually cop to confusing the party nomination with the Presidency, and all but admit they're staging a true coup.  That has legs.

CNN would never ask that.  They'd fawn all over her for assuming the responsibility, and tell everyone how that makes her the Best Presidential Candidate Ever.

That's a Fox News question.

And related to this:

Quote

Section 3 [of the XXV Amendment]. Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

Even if Biden was temporarily unable to execute the duties of the office, there is a black-and-white process for him to delegate responsibilities of the office to the VP.  Was this used?  When he was diagnosed with COVID, and whatever else has happened, and disappeared for five days, were the Senate and House properly notified that Kamala Harris would be temporarily assuming the duties of the office, as she appears to have done?

really want someone to be asking these questions.  But American media is dogshit.

In fact...who here has a Republican Congressional Rep?  Mine's deep blue (Jamie Raskin), so sending this to him is a waste of time.  But anyone who has a Republican rep, I'll write all this up for you to send to them.

These questions really need to be asked.

My thoughts are pretty simple on this. They can't invoke this at this time because it would require a VP nomination. The VP nomination that would have to be tied to Kamala for her election. The Dem party didn't think far enough ahead for this scenario and combined with the possibility of an open caucus at the convention they are afraid to tie anyone on to Harris.

The Democrats are legally/constitutionally screwed but to them it doesn't matter because they don't have the ethics or belief system to care.

I can get it to a few GOP politicians in NC but it won't matter. There is a nice blue gate atop NC with Roy cooper.

It actually wouldn't because Biden isn't dead.  He still holds the office; he's just incapable of executing the responsibilities.  In that situation, making the VP the Acting President under the 25th Amendment does not create a vacancy in the Vice Presidency to be filled.

There's only a vacancy if the President resigns or dies, in which case the Vice President is promoted to become the actual, not acting, President.

It's a nicely, clearly, unambiguously worded Amendment.

And there's even precedent: when Presidents have gone in to the hospital for medical procedures requiring anesthetic, they've notified Congress of the temporary transference of power to the VP for the duration of the procedure (through recovery and release from the hospital).

There is absolutely no reason for them not to do this: notify Congress that "I, President Biden, am ill with COVID.  For the duration of my illness, the powers and duties of the President shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President."  It would likely be a forged letter, and mendacious in claiming it's only for the duration of Biden's COVID...but it would at least be a legal fig leaf over what they're actually doing.

That they can't even bother with the fig leaf shows the level of utter contempt Democrats hold the American public in.

Well, that would likely hurt the feelings of the Treasury Secretary and Secretary Blinken as she'd presumably resume the presidential duties that 46 has apparently transferred to THEM.  (And no friggin' clue how THAT is legal, but maybe.)

And yet these SAME people that would scream when somebody questions this are the SAME people screaming that DONALD TRUMP WILL END DEMOCARACY.  These f'ers are already disregarding the laws of our Republic.

i meant they figuratively can't.

if they invoke it than they're strung to the Harris/new VP ticket going into an open convention. this is bad news for anyone who could be a candidate by locking themselves to Harris when someone else may choose them.

In an open convention you could have Shapiro as the hot ticket but already sworn to Harris when Clinton may be able to win.

that is IF it is a full time move. if the office is foolish enough to say this is a short term declaration while Biden receives care than it will backfire royally in the public eye for the faith that Harris has to run the country.

If it is full time removal of trump as a 25th amendment forcing him down than it discredits the fundamentals of the democratic party which once exists. the party of the people would take a generation to recover just like the Republicans after Reconstruction and later Jim crow with the southern democrat movements.
