If Elam still struggles at CB on the boundary, is there any thought to converting him to S? I know that idea may not be popular, but I believe that was Aaron Williams path. Williams was a high pick, 2nd round #34. He had solid size and could play, but not as a CB in the NFL. He put in 2-3 good seasons at S before injuries got him. Elam is 6'1 @200 lbs. If Bishop and Edwards can't stay healthy is this a dumb idea?

 

I believe Corey Graham did the same here too. Neither of those guys had the DB gurus the current staff has.

Isn't Elam's big issue that he can't play zone coverage but is solid in man?

 

If so, how does moving him to safety improve matters for him?

MVS, to me, was like the Claypool pick up. Never meant to fully move the needle; mostly meant for depth, maybe mentorship for the young'ns.

If the bills keep just 3 RBs on the 53, it'll be tough for him.  Cook, Johnson and Davis would seem to be the 3.  Practice squad very possible assuming no other team signs him.  If his name weren't Gore, he probably wouldn't get noticed as much by other teams.
