Jordan Love is now the highest paid QB in the NFL. Not only is Josh Allen out of the top 10, now so is Mahomes.

I get the feeling that a redone contract with a huge signing bonus and deferred money is gonna happen for JA. He doesn’t need the giant number, would rather get a trophy or two.

Bills are going to have to Kraft a QB contract for Josh.

Wasn't he in danger of losing his leg at some point?

Something tells me he might have had a wicked infection on top of the breaks. It looks like he was opened up and cleared out and then had plastic surgery to fill the voids and patch up the dead skin.

Yep.

And not just an infection.  Necrotizing fasciitis.  Wacky fun.

Quote

During a game against the Houston Texans on November 18, 2018, Smith suffered a spiral and compound fracture to his tibia and fibula in his right leg when he was sacked by Kareem Jackson and J. J. Watt.

[...]

Following the initial surgery, Smith developed life-threatening necrotizing fasciitis that resulted in sepsis which required him to undergo 17 surgeries, including eight debridements, across four separate hospital stays over a period of nine months.  Doctors had suggested that an amputation above the knee might be his only option before performing skin grafts and an operation transferring muscle from his left quadriceps to save it.  As a part of his recovery process, Smith wore an external fixation device for nearly a year.

Wasn't a great starter, but a heck of a backup. Frank Reich style career and Foles got a Lombardy along the way. Solid NFL career.

While I'm rooting for the Diggs pick to improve, this really sucks.  Hopefully he dodges a bullet and it's not a complete tear.
