Not an on-sides kick - which they can try in the 4th if they declare it.  A squib kick up ahead of the returners hoping some of those 2nd level blockers have hands of stone or aren't paying attention is what he's talking about.  And for all intents and purposes, yeah, that's gone too.  

 

Nobody but the kicker and the up to 2 returners can move until the ball touches in "the landing zone" or the endzone or it is touched by a returner.  Getting the ball to sit in a spot somebody other than one of the returners will be the 1st to get to it will be almost impossible if the returners aren't stoned.
