Four NFL teams remain under 50% vaccinated less than two weeks from the start of training camp, a person familiar with the vaccination rates told The Associated Press.
 

Washington, Indianapolis, Arizona and the Los Angeles Chargers had the four lowest COVID-19 vaccination rates in the league as of Thursday, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity, because the league hasn’t released the numbers.
 

Pittsburgh, Miami, Carolina and Denver have the highest vaccination rates and are among seven teams that have achieved at least 85%. About 70% of players have been vaccinated. Teams on the lower end of the vaccination table face potential competitive disadvantages.
 

The NFL doesn’t plan to cancel any games this season, the person said.
 

In a memo sent to clubs last week and obtained by the AP on Thursday, the NFL, in conjunction with the NFLPA, updated protocols to allow teams traveling to joint practices to have their daily maximum of Tier 1 and Tier 2 individuals. The traveling party will be either 100 or 140, depending on the club’s vaccination percentage. The club must limit the number of individuals traveling on the team transportation to 85 but may travel additional Tier 1 and Tier 2 staff up to the applicable daily Tier limits separately to attend the practice.
 

Also, beginning at the start of training camp, teams will be required to develop a method to visually identify fully vaccinated Tier 1 and Tier 2 individuals.
 

Utilizing color coded wristbands or credentials are recommended but clubs are free to implement other methods.

Last month, the NFL and the players’ union updated protocols to loosen restrictions for fully vaccinated players and to encourage others to get the vaccine.
 

Unvaccinated players must continue to get daily testing, wear masks and practice physical distancing. They won’t be allowed to eat meals with teammates, can’t participate in media or marketing activities while traveling, aren’t permitted to use the sauna or steam room and may not leave the team hotel or interact with people outside the team while traveling. Vaccinated players will not have any of those restrictions.

Ya know, the NFL has held up the middle finger to many stupid concepts over the years. Would love to see them do that here. This is a self inflicted wound to force compliance, they are now no different in my sight than our disgusting government overlords. They will lose people over this. Not that they care at this point, it is well calculated on their part.

As training camps across the NFL are set to open up in less than two weeks, some teams may be looking at a competitive disadvantage due to their vaccination rates. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, two teams remain under 50% vaccinated. This is improved from four clubs being under that threshold, which Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press noted in a report released on Thursday. The Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Football Team, Indianapolis Colts, and Arizona Cardinals were said to be the teams with the four lowest COVID-19 vaccination rates in the league as of Thursday, per the AP's source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, but it's unclear which two still remain under 50%.  
 

Meanwhile, the NFL Network adds that 13 teams are over the 85% vaccinated threshold and 73.8% of players have at least one shot. The AP adds that the Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos are among with teams with the highest vaccination rates.

NFL, NFLPA working on method for identifying vaccinated players at practices, during games
 

Various players have declined to reveal whether they’ve been vaccinated against COVID. Ultimately, it could be impossible for them to conceal that fact.
 

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL and NFL Players Association are working out the details for identifying vaccinated players during practices and games. It’s regarded as a “core concern,” the source explained.
 

Obviously, if visual proof will distinguish vaccinated from non-vaccinated players, fans and media will see it, too. Which means that it will be impossible for those who have chosen not to be vaccinated to keep that information secret.

The NFL already has implemented a requirement within team facilities that vaccinated players be quickly identified by a device like a wristband or a credential.
 

As players who haven’t been (and don’t intend to be) vaccinated become aware of this wrinkle, they may be unhappy. It’s possible, if not likely, that quarterbacks like Kirk Cousins, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen have not received the vaccine. (It’s also entirely possible that Marsha hasn’t been vaccinated, either, given his well-documented aversion to all kinds of chemicals.)

IMO, cusp players "had" to get vaccinated, they could not take a chance on getting cut for this reason (two equal players, one vaccinated, one not).  The NFL told everyone to cool it after Beane's comments. That does not mean they did.

You make an interesting point. It keeps getting mentioned what the league and team vax rate is. The bottom half of every roster basically have to. I wonder how far that percentage falls after final rosters are set.
